Sickies Playing Cards

Print | Project Management | Public Health
Project Overview
This playing cards deck was part of a vaccine confidence campaign developed by the Philadelphia Department of Public Health's Immunization Program. The cards have been distributed to city health centers and pediatricians' offices across Philadelphia. The intention of this print material was to engage young children and educate parents and caregivers about vaccine-preventable diseases.
My Contributions
As the Communications and Training Manager at the Immunization Program, I managed a series of targeted mass media campaigns from inception to launch. This involved writing the request for proposals (RFP), working with epidemiologists to leverage data for ad targeting, communicating with clinical and non-clinical colleagues to identify messaging priorities, and creatively directing print and digital materials. To create this material, I aligned priorities among my team, developed copy and reference images, conveyed direction to the contracted advertising agency, managed translation into 10 languages, owned internal review and approvals, and more.

The target audience for this post was Philadelphia adults who lack trust in vaccines due to online misinformation.
My Contributions
As the Communications and Training Manager at Philadelphia Immunization Program, I manage the development of all organic and paid social media content. I managed copywriting, design, and analytics.

Healthcare Staffing Social Post

Social Media | Thought Leadership | B2B
Project Overview
This social post was a part of the RLDatix External Communications team's efforts to enhance the company's social presence through thought leadership content. The overall goal of this content was to differentiate RLDatix from its competition, establishing the company as a trusted leader in the B2B SaaS healthcare space, particularly among other entities offering integrated technology solutions for governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) and workforce management.
My Contributions
As a member of the External Communications team, I worked with the Marketing Manager to execute the content calendar, leveraging my expertise in health communications to craft compelling messages aimed at generating new and repeat customer acquisition. In writing this post, I utilized best practices in LinkedIn content strategy: target the audience with a knowledge of their pain points, share industry insights, highlight a unique perspective, use concise copy, and more.

Chronic Condition Webpages

Website | UX Research | B2C
Project Overview
These chronic condition webpages were an element of Mayv's B2C SaaS resource library to support people with chronic conditions better understand and navigate their health care. Mayv's website served as a landing page for new and existing customers, offering thorough descriptions about each chronic condition. This company's approach to chronic condition management was unique in that it focused on integrative treatment plans managed through an app.
My Contributions
Mayv's CEO reached out to me with a request to create 16 webpages describing select chronic conditions as well as their integrative treatment options. Because this type of resource did not exist in another form, I conducted thorough research using medical journal articles and patient forums to distill summaries of each condition, common symptoms, and evidence-based treatment options. I researched online patient and caregiver forums to inform this copy, identifying symptoms and treatment options commonly discussed among patients but frequently omitted from medical literature.

Vaccine Preventable Disease Palm Cards

Print | Creative Direction | Public Health
Project Overview
The Philadelphia Department of Public Health's Immunization Program produces a wide variety of print materials for healthcare providers to use in managing vaccine inventory and educating patients about vaccines. This public-facing educational palm card series includes 10 versions each describing a different vaccine-preventable disease and preventative guidance.
My Contributions
At the start of this project's development, I had just finished creatively directing and writing social posts, stickers, palm cards, and a brochure for distribution at the STD Control Program's high school screening events. Inspired by the accessibility of youth-facing materials, I thought, "simple and colorful shouldn't just be for kids!" These palm cards were created for an adult audience and an intention to reach people across the health literacy spectrum. To create this series, I sourced image references, conveyed the theme and concept to the designer, wrote the copy, and worked with clinicians for fact-checking.

BBC Storyworks is the content studio of BBC Global News. Storyworks hosted a series of articles in partnership with SAS, a statistical software suite utilizing machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI to manage and model data. The software is used in industries including healthcare, which these articles discuss in depth. The articles elaborate on the role of AI and machine learning in leveraging data for improved efficiency.
My Contributions
Then-Managing Editor of BBC Storyworks, Ted Brown, commissioned me to copyedit this series. I copyedited for consistency, conciseness, and grammatical accuracy with particular attention to ensuring adherence to AP style guidelines. Ted relied on me as a resource for AP style guidance during this project and later commissioned me for another article series sponsored by financial services company, HSBC.

COVID-19 Mask Guidance Social Post

Social Media | Substantive Edit | Public Health
Project Overview
The Philadelphia Department of Public Health Immunization Program's Communications team is constantly collaborating across programs. This was especially true during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Another program within the Department of Public Health created the copy for this social post and the Immunization Program designer created the graphic.
My Contributions
As is common practice in cross functional work within the Immunization Program, a designer on my team asked me to review this social post prior to finalization. I suggested modified copy in the bottom half of the social post for enhanced clarity and an emphasis on accessibility, harm reduction, and evidence-based public health guidelines. This post was one of a series which together served as comprehensive and easy-to-understand masking guidance.

UX (User Experience)

Google UX Design Course Project

Website | UX Design | Coursework
Project Overview
The Google UX Design Professional Certificate course provided a foundation of UX design and taught wireframes, prototypes, UX research, and Figma. Throughout the course, students build toward a portfolio project based on a topic of their choosing.
My Contributions
For my Google UX Design course porfolio project, I decided to design an app which would enable patients to manage dental billing for themselves and their whole family. To arrive at a prototype, I created user personas, wireframes, and received feedback from classmates. This experience elevated my knowledge of UX research, writing, and design, and taught me how to use Figma for applied website design in my real work.

Vaccines.phila.gov Website Redesign

Website | UX Research & Design | Public Health
Project Overview
The Philadelphia Department of Health Immunization Program's website was outdated and difficult to use. While the Communications team worked diligently to update the website and enhance user experience, its theme and overall design did not meet the needs of its users.
My Contributions
In my first role with the Immunization Program, I conducted a full audit and update of website content, working with staff to cross-check for relevance and accuracy of website copy, PDFs, and information architecture. Equipped with UX research and design skills, I began conducting user research through surveys, interviews, heuristic analyses, and data analysis, distilling takeaways into a presentation with which I made recommendations to management for a website redesign. As shown below, I leveraged these findings to create user personas, wireframes, and prototypes to build toward the redesign, scheduling meetings with relevant stakeholders and managing each step of the project along the way.

RLDatix Webpage

Webpage | Site Map & Mockup | B2B
Project Overview
RLDatix, B2B health technology company, hosts a website for internal staff called RLDaily. RLDaily's Marketing section hosts staff resources covering product marketing and brand guidelines. The Marketing Manager requested assistance with visualizing the information architecture of a new Corporate Communications page in the Marketing section of RLDaily.
My Contributions
Understanding the importance of visualizing a webpage before designing it, I used Figma to create a site map using a key to indicate page orientation and type. I then referenced other webpages on RLDaily and considered the resources made available on this future webpage to determine an ideal layout. Also using Figma, I created a mockup of the webpage incorporating relevant copy and adhering to brand guidelines including the company color palette.
